about
An ode to Deuce’ Curtis Wakeling and Kayleigh Heydon’s relationship, ‘Language of Love’ propels with a driving bassline, airy guitar chords and a saxophone line courtesy of Snowy (Snowy Band, Pop Filter).
While debut single ‘Antipodes’ featured Heydon on vocals, in ‘Language of Love’, Wakeling’s vocals take centre stage. Described by the duo as a song “about cuts, flipping off cows and love”, the moments referenced in the new track are taken from the duo’s lived, shared experiences.
lyrics
Sunny park, country side
Cut on your face, split open wide
Bed against the wall, coffee drips down
Tell those cows to fuck off, language of love
Softest green grass by the cross
Bed against the wall, coffee drips down
I know that I am hard to read, thinkin ‘bout whatever comes to mind
We can lay around in the grass, watch the sun go by, but I can’t sit still
Sunny park, country side
Cut on your face, split open wide
Bed against the wall, coffee drips down
Tell those cows to fuck off, language of love
Softest green grass by the cross
Bed against the wall, coffee drips down
I don’t expect anything from you, the nice things you do that you don’t have to
Don’t know what comes next, no clue, but I know I want to be with you
Sunny park, country side
Cut on your face, split open wide
Bed against the wall, coffee drips down
Tell those cows to fuck off, language of love
Softest green grass by the cross
Bed against the wall, coffee drips down
Sunny park, country side
Cut on your face, split open wide
Bed against the wall, coffee drips down
Tell those cows to fuck off, language of love
Softest green grass by the cross
Bed against the wall, coffee drips down

Was walking into town to pay a speeding fine, determined to listen to some well known and loved downer tracks to help lean into my inner turmoil but forgot I had queued this up earlier in the day whilst in a better mood. The small but genius part of my brain let it play. Instantly hooked. Love this so much. Jay Edwards
